Our Family’s Fall Bucket List 🍂

Our Family’s Fall Bucket List 🍂

Our Family’s Fall Bucket List 🍂 Fall is one of my favorite seasons, and this year my husband and I wanted to be a little more intentional about enjoying it as a family. We put together a fall bucket board filled with things we actually want to do together as a family. Some of these are new adventures for our family, while others are traditions we already love. Either way, I’m excited to make some memories with my husband and our two littles this fall!

  1. Outdoor movie night with blankets My daughter has been asking for this since she saw her Gigi get an outdoor movie set. Of course we have to make this one happen! Our current movie choosing list is cars, Mary Poppins, Paddington, and Winnie the Pooh. Bonus if we have pizza and some ice cream to top off this fall activity.
  2. Brown County hike If you have ever been to Brown County you know that it is such a beautiful place to hike or camp. Nashville Indiana which is right outside brown county is such a cute little town to explore and get some ice cream. This is definitely something we do after we visit there. This one isn’t necessarily a bucket-list item that we only plan to check off once this season. Brown County is somewhere we visit often because we genuinely love camping and hiking there. Brown county is a great place to have a more low key bachelorette party if you are getting married soon or know someone who is.
  3. Go Apple picking It has been a long time since I have gone apple picking and this one was one my family really wants to do this year. My mom had apple trees and so I would pick apples growing up and help her make homemade applesauce and homemade apple butter. It truly was one of my favorite things to do with my mom and a tradition I want to keep in my family. Some great places to do u pick apples are Tuttle Orchard, Anderson Orchard or Stuckey Apple orchard. I will link more here if you want to check out more places to do U pick apples: https://indywithkids.com/indianapolis-apple-orchards-picking-kids/
  4. Dull Tree Farm We have gone to Dulls Tree Farm the last 3 years and let me tell you that if you are a huge fall fan like me this is the place to go. They have things from corn mazes, pumpkin patch, hayride, little tractor rides, good food, bonfires, and so much more. It is incredibly family-friendly, especially if you have little ones. We have a 3 and a 1 yr old and it is a place we look forward to visiting every year. If you have instagram give a follow to Keeping Up in Greenwood. She has a discount code every year that you can apply when buying tickets.
  5. Reading a fall chapter book This is where two of my favorite things combine and make me so happy: fall and reading. I read The Pumpkin Spice Café last year, and I loved it so much that I want to reread it this year. There’s just something about reading a cozy book on a rainy fall day with a blanket and a cup of hot tea that makes me so happy. If you’re looking for some book recommendations this fall, The Pumpkin Pie Book Nook and Matchmaker’s Cottage are both good romance books to add to your list. For the kids, some of our favorite fall books are Clifford’s First Halloween, Brambly Hedge: Autumn Story, It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse!, and Strega Nona’s Harvest. My husband and I are also planning to read The Hobbit together this fall. We thought it would be a fun way for us to reconnect after the kids go to bed and have something that is just ours to enjoy together.
  6. Fall festival in Battle Ground My brother is a firefighter in Battle ground and every year they do a fall festival where they have the community come out and be together. We loved it last year and plan to go every year in the future.
  7. Family baking day Baking in the fall is so fun especially with little ones. It also is a great way to connect as a family without spending money. Both of my kids love their cooking towers and helping me make snacks and meals throughout the week. I plan to make pumpkin bread and some pumpkin snickerdoodle.
  8. Have a picnic in the park One of my favorite things about fall is how it makes even the simplest moments feel a little more special. We want to pack up some of our favorite snacks, bring a cozy blanket, and relax at a park with the kids. These activities will be one of the ways we can intentionally slow down and enjoy being together. These small adventures are the moments I will remember at the end of my life and will be so thankful we took the time to do.
  9. Boo at the zoo This is a new one for our family but I have heard it is a good activity to experience during the fall. My kids love the zoo so I will be excited to see how my kids will like this adventure.
  10. Drive in movie Who does’t love a drive in movie? I know I do and maybe it is the nostalgia of it but this another one of my favorite things to do early in the fall. It also is a great date night idea as well. Bring some snacks and enjoy a good movie.
  11. Fantasy football As a family who does not watch football a whole lot we are getting out of our comfort zones this fall and join a fantasy football group this year. I have no clue what I am doing so I will be auto drafting my players. I believe my husband said he is going to research players to customize his team. I am really excited to see how my soon to be team will play out.

Honestly, I don’t know if we’ll get everything on this list done and that’s okay. My husband and I made this bucket list because we want to be intentional about enjoying the fall season instead of letting it pass by while we are caught up in the everyday craziness. If you have made your bucket list for this fall and you feel the pressure of getting it all done or having everything be perfect.. stop and take a breath this is your family idea board of how to have fun this fall not a checklist. I know these won’t be picture perfect days and that’s okay because what matters is we make the most of the day that God gave us and spend it loving on each other and being together.
